Custom gaming PCs, built and tested in the UK
Every machine on this page is assembled by hand by our own technicians, run under full load before it is packed, and shipped free to any mainland UK address. Prices run from ยฃ749 for a 1080p esports build to ยฃ9,399 for an RTX 5090 flagship, and every system carries a 3 year warranty.
Nothing here is drop-shipped or flat-packed. We use standard retail components and standard ATX layouts, so the PC you buy today can be upgraded in three years without replacing the whole thing. Whichever range you pick, the build standard, the testing and the warranty are identical โ what changes is the case, the cooling and where it sits on price.
Our four ranges, and who each one is for
Same build standard, same warranty, same testing across all four. What changes is the case, the cooling approach and where each range sits on price.

Where the money is best spent
On a fixed budget the graphics card should take the largest share, then the processor, then memory. A ยฃ1,500 build with a strong GPU and 16GB of memory will outperform a ยฃ1,500 build with a mid GPU and 64GB every time, because games are limited by the graphics card long before they run short of memory.
What not to overspend on
- Memory beyond 32GB does nothing for gaming on its own. It matters for video editing, 3D and local AI models.
- A 1000W power supply for a mid-range card. A right-sized 80+ Gold unit is quieter and more efficient.
- Extreme cooling on a 65W processor. Good airflow and a sensible cooler reach the same temperature more quietly.
- Storage you cannot fill. 2TB holds a dozen large games, and a second drive takes minutes to add later.

What FPS will you actually get?
Average frame rates in demanding 2025โ26 releases such as Cyberpunk 2077, Black Myth: Wukong and Alan Wake 2, at high or ultra settings with DLSS Quality where supported and frame generation switched off. Ranges rather than single numbers, because a firefight and a corridor are not the same test.
| Graphics card | 1080p | 1440p | 4K | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| RTX 5050 8GB | 70โ90 | 45โ60 | Not suited | Solid 1080p card. Drop to high settings in the heaviest titles. |
| RTX 5060 8GB | 90โ110 | 60โ75 | Not suited | The value pick for 1080p at 144Hz. |
| RTX 5060 Ti 16GB | 110โ130 | 80โ95 | 45โ55 | Entry to 1440p. The 16GB version is worth the difference. |
| RTX 5070 12GB | 130โ160 | 95โ115 | 55โ70 | Comfortable 1440p ultra, and 4K with DLSS in lighter titles. |
| RTX 5070 Ti 16GB | 160โ190 | 120โ145 | 70โ90 | The 1440p high-refresh sweet spot, and genuinely 4K capable. |
| RTX 5080 16GB | 190โ220 | 145โ175 | 90โ110 | 4K at high refresh with ray tracing on. |
| RTX 5090 32GB | CPU limited | 190โ230 | 120โ150 | Nothing currently troubles it at 4K. Pair with an X3D processor. |
Esports is a different question
Counter-Strike 2, Valorant, Apex Legends, Rocket League and Fortnite in performance mode are limited by the processor, not the graphics card. Any build on this page runs them past 200 FPS at 1080p. If competitive play is your main use, put the money into the processor and a high refresh monitor rather than a bigger GPU.
Why 1% lows matter more than averages
An average of 120 FPS feels rough if it repeatedly drops to 45. The 1% low is the frame rate during the worst moments, and it is what you actually perceive as smooth or stuttery.
Large processor cache and enough graphics memory both lift the 1% low, which is why we fit 16GB cards and X3D processors further down the range than most builders do.
Indicative ranges based on published testing for each GPU class. Performance varies with game version, drivers, settings and scene.
AMD or Intel?
For pure gaming, AMD's X3D processors currently lead. For mixed work where you also render, compile or export video, the gap closes and Intel becomes competitive again. We build on both.
Choose AMD if you mostly game
Ryzen X3D chips stack extra cache directly onto the processor. Games repeatedly request the same data, so keeping it on the chip rather than in system memory removes a lot of waiting. The Ryzen 7 9800X3D is the fastest gaming processor available at the time of writing.
- Best frame rates and best 1% lows in games
- AM5 socket, so a processor upgrade needs no new motherboard
- Low power draw means less heat and less fan noise
Choose Intel if you game and work
Core Ultra processors combine performance and efficiency cores, which suits workloads that use every thread at once โ video exports, code compiles, batch rendering. In games they sit slightly behind X3D, but the difference is usually invisible above 100 FPS.
- Strong in multi-threaded creative and productivity work
- Quick Sync helps with video encoding and streaming
- Often better value at the same performance level

The practical detail: what it costs to get it to you, what happens if something fails, and how to pay for it.
Free UK delivery
Free to every mainland UK address, from Cornwall to the Scottish central belt. In-stock systems are dispatched within 1 to 3 working days, and next-day delivery is available on selected builds. Machines are packed with internal bracing so the graphics card and cooler cannot move in transit, and we ship to the Highlands, Northern Ireland and the islands on request.
UK-based support
Our support team is in the UK and answers the phone. If something is not behaving you speak to people who build these machines every day, rather than working through a script. Support runs by phone, email and WhatsApp for as long as you own the system.
3 year warranty
1 year collect & return, 1 year parts, 3 years labour. If something fails in the first year we arrange collection, repair it and return it to you. Technical support by phone or email lasts as long as you own the machine.
30 day returns
Change your mind within 30 days and send it back. Your statutory rights under the Consumer Contracts Regulations apply on top of this, and nothing here reduces them.
Spread the cost
Klarna, Clearpay and PayPal Credit at checkout, alongside Visa, Mastercard, American Express, PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Finance is subject to status and available to UK residents aged 18 or over.
Business and education
Ex-VAT pricing is shown on every page with one click, and we accept purchase orders from schools, universities, councils and registered businesses. Call the team and we will invoice on account.
Gaming PC questions, answered
Is it cheaper to build a gaming PC yourself in the UK?
On parts alone, usually by around 5 to 10 percent. That saving buys you the assembly, the stress testing, a single warranty covering the whole system rather than eight separate manufacturer warranties, and someone to call when it will not boot. For a first build in particular, the difference is rarely worth the risk of a bent pin or an incompatible part.
How much should I spend on a gaming PC in 2026?
Around ยฃ750 to ยฃ1,000 for 1080p at high settings, ยฃ1,500 to ยฃ2,700 for 1440p at ultra, and ยฃ3,000 or more for 4K at high refresh rates. The most common spend among UK buyers sits between ยฃ1,200 and ยฃ2,000, which covers 1440p comfortably.
What is the best gaming PC for 1440p?
For 1440p at high refresh rates, look for an RTX 5070 Ti with 16GB of memory paired with a Ryzen 7 processor, 32GB of DDR5 and a 2TB NVMe drive. That combination holds 120 to 145 FPS in demanding titles at ultra settings, and comfortably exceeds 400 FPS in Counter-Strike 2.
Do I need 32GB of RAM for gaming?
No. 16GB is enough for gaming alone in 2026, and 32GB is the sensible amount if you also stream, keep a lot of browser tabs open or do creative work. 64GB and above only makes a measurable difference in video editing, 3D rendering and running AI models locally.
Is a prebuilt gaming PC upgradeable?
Ours are. We use standard retail components and standard ATX layouts, with no proprietary motherboards, connectors or power supplies. Every build leaves a free M.2 slot for extra storage, memory slots where the platform allows, and enough power supply headroom to fit a larger graphics card later.
What graphics card do I need for 4K gaming?
An RTX 5080 or RTX 5090 for 4K at high refresh rates with ray tracing enabled. An RTX 5070 Ti will handle 4K at 70 to 90 FPS in most titles with DLSS, which is perfectly playable on a 120Hz display, but it is working harder to do it.
Does the PC come with a monitor, keyboard and mouse?
No, the price covers the PC itself with Windows 11 installed. We stock monitors, keyboards, mice and headsets separately, and bundling a monitor with a PC reduces the monitor price. Call or message us and we will put a package together.
Does it come with Windows already installed?
Yes. Windows 11 is pre-installed, activated and fully updated, with the current graphics drivers in place. Plug in a monitor, keyboard and mouse, sign in, and install your games.
How loud are these systems?
Quiet enough to sit on a desk. We fit high-airflow cases with mesh front panels so the fans can move air at low speed, and we size coolers and power supplies with headroom rather than to the limit. A component running below its limit is a quiet component. Expect the machine to be audible under a sustained load, not intrusive.
Can I upgrade the specification before you build it?
Yes, on any system on this page. The usual changes are more memory, a larger drive, a different graphics card or a quieter cooler. Call 0207 096 5008 or message us on WhatsApp with the build you are looking at and what you want changed, and we will re-quote it before anything is assembled.
What happens if something goes wrong?
Call or email us first โ a surprising number of faults turn out to be a loose cable or a driver, and we can often resolve them on the phone. If the machine does need to come back, the warranty covers it:
- 1 year collect & return โ we arrange the courier both ways
- 1 year parts โ faulty components replaced free of charge
- 3 years labour โ workmanship covered for the full term
- Lifetime technical support by phone and email
Are these PCs VR ready?
Any build with an RTX 5060 Ti or above is comfortably VR ready for headsets including Meta Quest 3, Valve Index and HTC Vive. VR benefits more from consistent frame delivery than from peak frame rate, so the 1% low matters more here than anywhere else.
Can I use one of these for video editing or 3D work?
Yes. The RTX 50 series handles hardware encoding and decoding well, and anything from an RTX 5070 Ti upwards with 32GB or more of memory will run DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, Blender and Unreal Engine 5 comfortably. If the machine is primarily for work rather than play, our workstation range is specified differently and is usually the better fit.
Why buy from House of Computers?
We have been building PCs in the UK since 2012 and hold 4.8 out of 5 on Trustpilot and 4.9 on Google Reviews. Every machine is assembled and tested by our own technicians rather than imported pre-built, we use standard retail parts so nothing is locked down, and the people answering the phone are the people who build them.
