BattleBox Pro HeliosRTX 5090 32GB · Ryzen 9 9950X3D2
An all-ASUS flagship, built around the ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 32GB OC Edition and the 16-core Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition. 64GB of gold-finished G.Skill Royal DDR5 at CL28 and 6TB of NVMe storage sit behind it, on the enthusiast-grade ROG Crosshair X870E Dark Hero.
Cooling comes from the ROG Ryuo IV SLC 360 ARGB, power from an ATX 3.1 ROG Thor 1200W Platinum, all inside the armoured ROG Strix Helios II GX601S. Built for native 4K and 8K, path-traced gaming and local AI work, assembled and tested here in the UK.
Inside the Build
No filler parts and no surprises. Here is what each piece does and why it is in here.
AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2
Sixteen cores, thirty-two threads and stacked 3D V-Cache on both core clusters, boosting up to 5.6GHz on the Zen 5 architecture.
Two things happen at once here. The stacked cache keeps game data close to the cores, which flattens frame-time spikes and is why X3D chips feel smoother than their raw clock speed suggests. The full sixteen cores then handle everything a high frame rate does not need: compiling, rendering, encoding and AI work, all without stealing from the game.
ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 32GB
This is the part that draws the picture, and there is nothing above it. NVIDIA's Blackwell architecture with 32GB of GDDR7 to itself, in ASUS's factory-overclocked ROG Astral trim with a quad-fan cooler.
The 32GB frame buffer is what makes native 4K and 8K realistic rather than aspirational: uncompressed texture packs, full path tracing and 8K timelines all fit without spilling into system memory. DLSS 4 reconstructs frames and generates the ones in between, so maximum settings and a high refresh rate stop being a choice between two things.
ASUS ROG Ryuo IV SLC 360 ARGB
A 360mm closed liquid loop, the largest radiator that belongs on a desktop processor. Coolant carries heat away from the chip to three ARGB fans that push it out of the case.
With sixteen cores under sustained load, radiator size is what decides whether the processor holds its boost clocks or steps down after ten minutes. It holds them. The customisable display on the pump block shows live temperatures and clocks, or your own animations, and premium thermal paste is applied by hand on every build.
ASUS ROG Crosshair X870E Dark Hero
The board everything plugs into. Dark Hero is the enthusiast tier of the ROG range, with heavy power stages and thermal armour across the VRM and every M.2 slot.
That power delivery is why the memory can run 6000MHz at CL28 cleanly, and why a 16-core chip and an overclocked RTX 5090 can both draw hard at the same time without the board flinching. PCIe 5.0 for graphics and storage, Wi-Fi 7 wireless and 2.5GbE wired networking, and an AM5 socket that will take a future AMD processor without replacing the board.
64GB G.Skill Royal Gold DDR5-6000 CL28
Two 32GB modules at 6000MHz with a CL28 latency profile, which is an unusually tight timing for a kit this size. Latency is how long the processor waits for an answer, and a lower number means fewer of those small hesitations that show up as micro-stutter.
64GB is the point where you stop managing memory. Large Unreal Engine 5 projects, multiple 4K and 8K timelines, a local language model and a browser full of tabs can all sit open at once. The gold heatspreaders and RGB diffusers are there because this build is meant to be looked at.
6TB Total: 2TB Gen 5 + 4TB NVMe
The primary drive is a 2TB 9100 PRO on a PCIe 5.0 pipeline, reading at up to 14,800 MB/s. That is roughly double what a Gen 4 drive manages, and it shows up in asset streaming and in moving large media files rather than in boot times, which were already instant.
A second 4TB NVMe sits alongside it as a working archive: capture footage, model weights, project files and a game library that never needs pruning. Six terabytes in total, both drives on high-speed lanes, with no mechanical drive anywhere in the system.
ASUS ROG Strix Helios II GX601S
The chassis the build takes its name from. At 591 x 250 x 565mm it is a large tower with an aluminium frame, tempered glass on three sides and the ROG design language carried through the whole enclosure.
The size is doing real work here. A 360mm radiator, a full ATX board and a quad-fan RTX 5090 all need room to breathe, and giving them that room is what keeps the fans at low speed and the machine quiet. Carry handles, tool-free panels and a built-in cable management system finish it off.
ASUS ROG Thor 1200W P3 Platinum
Clean, steady power with an 80 PLUS Platinum III rating, so very little of what comes out of the wall is wasted as heat.
The important part is ATX 3.1 compliance. An RTX 5090 draws in short, sharp spikes well above its rated figure, and a supply that is not built for those transients is where instability in high-end systems usually starts. 1200W with native 12V-2x6 delivery handles them without complaint, and the fan stays off entirely at light loads.

What Can It Run?
Everything, at native resolution, with the settings sliders where the developer put them. The honest answer for a build at this level is that the question changes: it stops being what it can run and becomes what you can put in front of it. A 4K 240Hz panel, a triple-monitor simulator rig or an 8K timeline are all within its normal working range rather than at its limit.
In competitive titles the PC stops being part of the equation. Counter-Strike 2, Valorant, Apex Legends and Fortnite run at native 4K past what any panel on sale can display, and the stacked cache on the processor keeps the frame times even, so the movement feels consistent rather than merely fast.
The heavy releases are where the 5090 earns its place. Cyberpunk 2077 with ray tracing overdrive, Alan Wake 2 with full path tracing and Black Myth: Wukong on the cinematic preset all play at 4K with the lighting model fully switched on, using DLSS 4 to hold the frame rate up rather than turning any detail down. 8K is realistic in a good number of titles, which is not something you can say of much else.
Away from games it works as a serious workstation. The 32GB frame buffer holds large local language models entirely in VRAM, Blender and Unreal Engine 5 renders finish in a fraction of the usual time, and DaVinci Resolve handles multiple streams of raw 8K across the 6TB of NVMe without proxies.
With 64GB of CL28 memory and sixteen cores, none of that has to happen one thing at a time. You can render, stream, compile and play across the same session without the machine ever asking you to close something first.
FPS Benchmarks
Typical average frame rates for this configuration at 4K ultra settings. A busy scene and a quiet one are not the same test, so treat these as the shape of the performance rather than a fixed number.

Frequently Asked Questions
What resolution is this PC designed for?
Native 4K at maximum settings with ray tracing on, and 8K in a good number of titles. Competitive games run far beyond what any current monitor can display, so in practice your panel becomes the limit rather than the system. It is equally at home driving a 4K 240Hz display or a triple-screen simulator setup.
Why an X3D processor rather than a standard Ryzen 9?
3D V-Cache stacks extra cache directly onto the processor. Games constantly request small pieces of data, and a larger cache means the chip finds them without waiting on system memory. The benefit you notice is fewer frame-time spikes, which is what separates a frame rate that feels smooth from one that just reads high. With sixteen cores alongside it, you keep the multi-threaded performance for rendering and compiling too.
Does the graphics card support ray tracing and DLSS?
Yes, at the highest level currently available. The ROG Astral RTX 5090 has NVIDIA's latest ray tracing cores for full path tracing, plus tensor cores running DLSS 4 with multi frame generation. The 32GB GDDR7 frame buffer is what allows all of that to run at native 4K and 8K without the card running short of memory.
Is this system suitable for local AI and machine learning work?
Yes, that is one of the reasons it is specified this way. 32GB of VRAM holds large local language models entirely on the card, which is where the speed comes from, and 64GB of system memory plus 6TB of NVMe gives room for datasets and model weights. Stable Diffusion, local LLMs and training workloads all run comfortably.
What does 6TB of storage look like in practice?
Two NVMe drives. The primary is a 2TB Gen 5 9100 PRO reading at up to 14,800 MB/s for Windows, active projects and your current games. A 4TB second drive acts as a high-speed archive for capture footage, media libraries and model files. Both are solid state, and the board has further M.2 slots if you want to add more later.
How loud is it under load?
Quieter than the specification suggests. A large chassis with a 360mm radiator gives the cooling an easy job, so the fans move a lot of air at low speed rather than a little at high speed, and the Thor 1200W runs with its fan off at light loads. Expect it to be clearly audible under a sustained render or a path-traced game, not intrusive during normal use.
Does this PC support Wi-Fi and Bluetooth?
Yes. The ROG Crosshair X870E Dark Hero includes Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth with external antennas supplied, plus a 2.5GbE Ethernet port if you would rather use a cable for the lowest possible ping.
Can I upgrade the PC in the future?
Yes, though there is little above it to upgrade to. Everything in here is a standard part: the AM5 socket takes future AMD processors, the board has additional M.2 slots and spare memory capacity, and the chassis and 1200W supply will take anything that comes next without needing replacing.
Will it fit on or under a normal desk?
The Strix Helios II measures 591 x 250 x 565mm, so measure before you order. Most desks will take it underneath comfortably; on top of a desk it makes a statement but takes real space. If you are tight for room, our team can talk you through a smaller chassis with the same internals.
Does the PC come with Windows installed?
Yes. Windows 11 Professional is pre-installed, configured and tested before dispatch, so your system is ready to use immediately.
How is the PC tested before shipping?
Every BattleBox Pro Helios goes through a full build and quality assurance process. This includes BIOS updates, memory profile validation at CL28, cable management, extended thermal and stress testing with the CPU and GPU loaded together, driver installation and a final inspection before the system is carefully packaged for delivery.
What warranty is included?
The BattleBox Pro Helios includes a 3 Year Standard Warranty, consisting of:
- 1 Year Collect & Return
- 1 Year Parts Warranty
- 3 Years Labour Warranty
- Lifetime Technical Support
Can I customise the specification before ordering?
Yes. If you require additional memory, more storage, a different chassis or other hardware changes, our team can customise the BattleBox Pro Helios to suit your exact requirements before it is built.
Why choose House of Computers?
Every BattleBox Pro system is built by professional expert technicians in the UK using genuine components from leading manufacturers. Each PC is professionally assembled, fully stress-tested, quality checked and securely packaged to ensure it arrives ready to perform from day one.
